Youth
Who is the team leader and what is their role?
The Team leader is Kelly Cotterell whose role is to spend time seeking the Holy Spirit using the authority of the word of God for the delivery of an engaging youth programme for 11-18 year olds. Kelly will be supported by her husband Carlie Cotterell as they carry out their roles in the development of programmes which will equip and release young people into their God-given destinies. In order to build a strong and confident team there will be others added as the Holy Spirit brings people who have a passion, desire and vision for the youth within our church but also for the wider community.
Our roles will include teaching & training young people to live by the power of His Holy Spirit,
also to equip young people in terms of life skills and personal and social development.
What is the aim of this team?
One of the key aims of this team will be to provide and facilitate for young people the awareness of how to have a real authentic relationship with the living God, not just in church or youth group, but also to live and walk it out in their everyday lives. We also aim to build and establish trust with our young people and provide a safe environment whereby they are able to speak about their needs, aspirations and any difficulties they may be facing. Our goal is to assist our youth in having good productive Christian lives in all aspects of life including God in everything they do.
Where we have come from.
Youth activities over the past 15 years at Woolwich Community Church have included Midweek youth meetings with emphasis on teaching, study, life skills, socials (cinema, films, ice skating). Bible study on Sunday mornings. Weekends away for prayer, worship, mission and evangelism, or socially to Centre Parcs. Youth missions have included twice going to Spain on missions, also Scotland and Switzerland. The youth have also been involved in monthly open-airs in Woolwich. Numerous barbecues and get-togethers with lots of food.
On several occasions the youth have provided great hospitality & support during receptions for weddings, funerals, christenings, parties and various other celebrations.
Where we are going.
Both the present and the future for this team and in particularly the young people is going to be
filled with real encounters with the living God and learning to hear from him in a clear way enabling them to live out their lives believing that Jesus is truly by their side. We believe that God is raising up the youth of our church to supernaturally walk in both the power and protection of Jesus powerfully affecting their generation with signs and wonders following.
A word from us.
This is the best time in history to be alive. God has given us opportunity, love, power and truth to push back the forces of darkness over the youth of this generation and to equip them to rise above anything that this world can throw at them. God is raising up a mighty youth Army and the youth in Woolwich Community Church is a great part of that army and mandate from God. Heaven and all its power, ability, provision, love and goodness is invading this earth and The declaration over the youth at Woolwich is "THY KINGDOM COME THY WILL BE DONE ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN".
