1. Learn to pray and spend time with God
Now that you saved, and you are able to walk in relationship with God. Because of Jesus’ sacrifice, you are now able to have a relationship with God. The concept of prayer in its simplest forms mean you having a conversation with God in the same way you have a conversation with a loved one. Prayer allows us talk to God, telling Him everything, thanking Him for what He has done and ask God for what we want/need.
Prayer can seem a bit daunting at first especially if you aren’t too sure what to say, this is ok as you can practise and have plenty of time to grow in how you communicate with God.

2. Get a bible
The bible is God’s holy word and you will learn more about who God is, and God will speak to you through His word. It is vital that you purchase a bible as you will need for every step of the way as Christian.
Amazon or online bible shops are a good place to search for a bible, but please be advised that the bible has many translations. You would need find a version that you are able to understand and can help you as you read and study the Word. It is also useful to download a bible App such as YouVersion where you have access to different bible translations, bible reading plans and other resources that can help you to grow in the Word. If you do have any questions about what you have read, please do ask someone who you trust and who is spiritually mature to explain it you.

3. Find a church that teaches the bible
You realise quickly that there are many churches around and you may feel overwhelmed by the different choices. It is important to pray to God and ask Him for direction to find a church where they teach the truths of the scripture. It might mean that you would need to try different churches before you find a place to call your home church.
4. Get baptised
Once you find a church to call home, speak to the leaders about getting baptised. Baptism is an outward sign of your inward decision; it is a public declaration of your faith and commitment to follow Jesus Christ. Jesus Himself was baptised before He started His ministry on earth (Matthew 3:13-17). Your church would normally have baptism classes where they can explain more about baptism, once you’ve completed this and wish to go ahead you will then be baptised by water (immersed by water).
5. Find believers at church to fellowship with
Building relationships and fellowshipping with other believers is very important, you will need people to study the word and pray with, you will need people to encourage, love and correct you as well be accountable to. These people will be key especially if you find that your friends or family may not understand or may even discourage the faith and commitment you have made to Jesus.
